Lead: Illustrations & Visual narratives

Abhishek Thakur

An experienced scientific illustrator with a background in Plant evolution and ecology from IISER Bhopal, India.

An amazing digital artist.

I am an ecologist and an artist, holding a Master's degree in Biological Sciences with a specialization in Ecology. I have over three years of experience creating scientific illustrations and applied art for a range of clients and projects. Highlights of my work include designing a nature journaling notebook cover for Chester Zoo and a poster for the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation (ATBC) Capacity Building Committee.

My core specialization is in digital art, where I focus on botanical illustration and wildlife art. What makes my approach unique is the deep integration of indigenous Indian art forms, such as Gond, Pattachitra, and Madhubani, into my work. This allows me to blend scientific accuracy with the rich, narrative traditions of our cultural heritage. Through my art, I aim to connect the worlds of science and art by translating complex ecological concepts into visual stories. My use of traditional art forms helps make these narratives culturally resonant, hopefully fostering a deeper and more intuitive connection between people and the natural world.
